I felt like I knew blogs existed for quite some time but I was oblivious to their sheer AWESOMENESS for so long. I have been reading blogs for a couple years now and I have always wanted to start my own. But without the inspiration of other blogs out there, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here typing this today. So I thought I would point you guys in the direction of some other really awesome blogs that I have been inspired by and learned a lot from!
((This list is in no specific order and I could probably add 100 more blogs to it but….. that’ll be way too long to read right? So I thought I would just write about the first 5 that popped in my head. I’m happy to give you more recommendations though if you would like, so just ask!))
The Small Things Blog
This girl is amazing. If you are pretty active on Pinterest, you have probably seen a few pictures of her or pulled up one of her hair tutorials before because I see her on Pinterest ALL the time. That’s actually how I found her blog. Im telling you guys…. she really knows her stuff. Her name is Kate and she was a professional hairstylist for a number of years and just recently gave that up as she had her first baby (who is so absolutely adorable I might add). She has never posted about anything that didn’t interest me. She is very easily relatable and down to earth and I really just have too many good things to say about her. She is a hair/beauty blogger and has a TON of really fantastic tutorials. I have loved her recent braided hair tutorial, her tutorial showing you how to get soft waves, and naturally…her hair teasing tutorial (I’m a sucker for perfectly teased hair – which she always has by the way). You can also check out her YouTube channel for all of her amazing tutorials in one place.
The Lauren Elizabeth
Lauren is also amazing. She is actually sisters with Kate from The Small Things Blog! Pretty awesome. It’s ridiculous how gorgeous these 2 girls are. Ok anyways…. Lauren’s blog is more of a fashion/beauty blog. She posts a lot about outfits and what colors and patterns go together and she definitely makes up her own rules for a lot of things but it TOTALLY works every single time. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to really cute and stylish clothes. She also posts a few hair and makeup tutorials every once in a while as well. She’s fantastic. I recommend her messy curls tutorial, as well as her go-to’s for sweat proof makeup (which we all need this time of year!), or you can even try her concoction for homemade face wash! She also has her own jewelry line called Elisabeth Ashlie and she makes all the pieces herself. It’s all very simple and elegant, not to mention veryyy reasonably priced!
Fun Cheap or Free
Jordan has some of the most fantastic advice I have ever heard when it comes to budgeting and living a frugal lifestyle. I strongly suggest you visit her page if you feel you can improve in any of these areas. She hosts something called Frugal Boot Camp once a year in her home state (Utah) but this year, they actually offered it virtually which I was sooooo excited about. I signed up and watched all the lecture videos (and you get a bunch of very helpful and FREE printables) and oh my goodness…. it has helped me and my little family TREMENDOUSLY. We have become so much better at saving money and budgeting properly and it really was such an amazing thing to be able to do. I’m so grateful to Jordan for all that she has taught me. She is married with 3 kids (plus one on the way) and her family lives in an absolutely gorgeous house and she was even featured on Extreme Cheapskates! She’s awesome guys….truly. You’re missing out if you don’t check out her blog. She is incredibly, incredibly wise and has such a great personality so her posts are really fun to read! And she’s funny! She wrote an INCREDIBLY inspiring story (that’s seriously changed my life) about her son’s near death experience, and she shares about the 7 bank accounts every family should have (sounds crazy but….read about it. It makes perfect sense), how to shop at Costco, and gives you a really awesome and totally easy budgeting technique that anyone and everyone can and should do! She has a beginner’s guide if you’re new to her blog where all of her most popular and helpful posts are all in one place too!
Living in Yellow
This is a blog I actually just recently started following in the last 6 months or so but I can’t seem to get enough of it. Erin is seriously so adorable and has such a down to earth personality. I feel like if I met her in real life, we would totally be friends. Haha Her blog is more of a lifestyle blog (kinda how ours is) so she blogs about a lot of different topics which makes her blog really enjoyable to read since you’re not reading similar things everyday (not that that’s a bad thing at all). She talks about why she has chosen to adopt when her and her husband are ready to have kids, her very real struggle with anxiety, her #1 diet secret,  as well as how to dominate Thanksgiving. Feel free to check out her list of all of her popular blog posts to get you started.
Maskcara
So Cara is just sheer brilliance. I don’t really know how else to word it. Her blog is a beauty blog and she.is.unbelievable. She has the best tutorials, tips and tricks, not to mention she is just the cutest gal ever. She has such a cute little family (with her second baby on the way!) and she exhibits so much humility even through all her recent fame. Starting a blog has proved itself to be a very smart business decision for her because I’m not the only one to have realized her true talent. She just recently won Allure’s 2013 Beauty Blogger of the Year award (seriously, how awesome is that?) so….. you know she’s good.  I could go on all day linking you guys to awesome posts of hers but….. I’ll let you discover them on your own. I advise you to at least check out her tutorial on making your eyes look bigger, achieving Victorias Secret hair (did I mention she got to go behind the scenes during a Victorias Secret Angel runway show? She met Adriana Lima and all the Angels! Ummm….. whaaaa???!!!), twirl curling your hair (which I’ve tried and…. it’s amazing and really does hold well even the next day!), and contouring your nose the right way. You guys…. she has THOUSANDS of amazing posts. She consistently does Makeover Mondays in which she gives one lucky person a beautiful makeover and posts about all the techniques and products used as well as before and after pictures. She also recently added The Prettilist which is a great list of all her favorite products in one place for quick reference. I refer to it a lot if I find myself in need of a new foundation, hair product, etc. Everytime I have followed one of her recommendations, she did not disappoint. Check her out. You won’t regret it.
Now….go pour yourself a glass of wine, get comfy, and enjoy!
